Glittery ribbons!

Hi everyone! Today's haul would be on glittery ribbons, and if you all don't already know
I really love ribbons!
So let's get this tutorial started!

Since I haven't got myself a proper base coat, I decided to just
settle with The Faceshop base coat, to protect my natural nails.

Next I painted 2 coats of black as the base colour
with this Vivid brand that I got from the Night market I guess,
I have this for quite a long time and it is still not too thick to be used, honestly!

Next, I used OPI- Spark De Triomphe that came with my white shatter,
as a gift from my friend for my birthday!

I would recommend using a silver or gold glittery nail polish for this design
because it will tend to stand out more on a black base.

After painting on the ribbon, I pasted on a purplish pink diamond
that I got it also from a Night market to make the ribbon stand out better, as well as
make it look more like a ribbon!

so this is my finished design, and I hope you girls enjoyed this tutorial!

Fashion and beauty haul + Exciting (flea) announcement

KONAD FUN!!

Hi everyone!!

This nail tutorial will teach you how to create designs with the KONAD

Nail kit!

So Let's get the tutorial started!

First, I use the Sally Hansen's Instant Strength Base coat to protect my

own natural nails.

Next, Apply OPI - Colour So hot It Burns,

Or any other red colour you have!

Any colour can be used as a base!!

I used this Chilli red colour because I want the design to stand out from the base colour.

So this is the basic things that you need for Your KONAD nail design

1. A tissue to put under the plate

2. Your desired design plate

3. Scraper

4. Stamper

For the design, I chose the one in the middle, the one with the bow and 3 lines.

So using OPI - Mummy Knows Best from the Spookettes Collection

Paint the design you want. Make sure you cover the whole design.

Scrap off any excess With the Scraper.

Quickly, use the Stamper to stamp up your design by rolling your stamp

over the design with equal force to get the whole design on your stamp.

Then angle your design in the way you prefer, and roll it over your Nails!

Apply Seche Vite or any other Top coat to protect your design and make it

have a glossy finish!

There you go, pretty designs without any extra effort!

To portray my excitement in receiving my November's Bellabox, I filmed a video of me opening the box (for the first time mind you, and showing you guys the goodies I received. However, I didn't really give a good explanation about each of the products. So I have decided to blog about an accompanying post.

Halloween Nail Designs!!

Hi everyone!! This post shall be a tutorial just for Halloween using the OPI Spookettes!!

So let's get this nail polish tutorial started!

So first, after filing, and cutting of cuticle, apply a base coat to protect your own natural nail!

In this tutorial, I am using the Sally Hansen's Instant Strength Base Coat!

I would definitely recommend Sally Hansen's Base coat because they have different functions for

different nail types, and is definitely worth the money, hence I've been using Sally Hansen's

base coat if you all don't already know!!

This is the mini OPI Spookettes Collection that I have bought from a local flea!

I was quite surprised by the stickers that I've found inside the box because it looks super cute!!!

4. Zom-Body To Love (Glow in the dark)

5. Stickers of pumpkin, spider, spiderweb and bats!

So this is my first design on my thumb and pinkie (?), using the colour He's My Boo a bright orange colour which is totally similar to a real life pumpkin!! It is done with a thin paint brush for the cute pumpkin smiley face! (sorry for the blur photo!!)

This is the thin paint brush that I have been using for all my designs!!

If I didn't remember wrongly, I bought it from a shop that sells many nails equipments at Far East!!

And my dotting tool that I have always been using as well, from a local night market!!

So next design is done on my pointer, a ghostly figure, similar to Casper The Friendly Ghost!!

Just paint a irregular shape and it'll look super cute with the features that you add in later on with the dotting tool!!

And as you can see on my ring finger, I drew a tombstone shape!!! It don't have to be perfect!!

Base colour: OPI I Only Date Werewolves

White colour used : OPI Mummy Knows Best

Tip: Wait till at least the surface of the white is dry before dotting the features!!

As you can see on my middle finger, I used the Zom-Body To Love (Glow in the dark) as the base colour, and the OPI Black shatter over it, to give it a more mysterious look. However I must say I am quite disappointed with the fact that the glow in the dark feature did not really work out because I don't really see the nail polish bottle itself glowing in the dark either, and the colour was a super sheer green.

So last but not least, after so much hard work of drawing and designing these nails, top it off with the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, to give a bright glow when it hits the light, and to keep the nail polish design pretty long enough for the halloween party that is coming up!!

So this is the finished look!!

October's Bellabox

With being obsessed with beauty products, I am constantly on the lookout for new products to try out. The problem is that there are too many out there so I don't know where to begin my hunt.

However, the discovery of this particular product has enabled me to to begin experimenting with new products. That is none other than, Bellabox.

Basically, Bellabox is a package filled with 5 deluxe samples of beauty/hair/nail products and is sent out as a monthly subscription to you. It lets you try these products without having to purchase the full size. For the price, I think that it is quite worth it because if you end up with a product that you don't like, at least you know that you didn't pay for its full retail price. With that being said, I think Bellabox is best for those who love trying out new products.

How often dyou see a packaging this cute AND pink!

At first, I thought that the pink package was the only box that all the products were going to be placed. However, I was quite surprised to find another box inside the pink package.

So, the actual items are actually placed inside this box for added protection. It's a pretty cute striped box that is actually reusable for you to store your little knick-knacks.

When you first opened the box, there is a also tissue lining as well as scrunched up tissue paper. Digging in though all these kinda feels a little like xmas! Hehehe

Travel Series Part 3: Outfit of the Week, in Korea

I know this sounds so redundant but i'm really sorry for the lack of posts. If not for school (sem 2 just started, boo!) , lousy internet connection (school and home), limited creativity (writer's block? But..not really) and pure laziness (k, i'll apologize for this one at least), I would have blogged more often. To perk up this lousy atmosphere, i'm going to spam this post with pictures featuring my Outfit of the Week, in Korea.

Also, I would like to mention that these photos were not taken for the purpose of showcasing my outfit. On that note, please bear with the awkward smiles/poses/props. Thank you!

Sephora Nail Stickers!!!

Hi everyone! Nail art tutorial time again!! This nail art tutorial today is slightly different from the normal one, because it does not require nail polishes at all!!All you need is a base coat and a top coat! So let's get this tutorial started!

First, after filing your nails to your desired shape and buffing them, paint on 1 coat of your favourite base coat to protect your own natural nails. As for me, I will be using the Sally Hansen's continuous treatment (Growth Croissance).

As you can see above, I got these beautiful nail art sticker from Sephora! You can easily find any other designs you like there easily at about $19 for 14 nail stickers! And if you all don't already know, I love red and ribbons!!!!!

Open up the pack, and this is what you will see! Try fitting the stickers on your fingers first, to know which is the right size to stick on each finger! After finding the right size, tear the nail sticker out from the other stickers, this will enable you to place the sticker accurately, near your cuticle to make it look genuine! Peel off the transparent plastic sheet and place the sticker on your nails carefully and accurately, fold the excess sticker down, covering the front of your nail to ensure longer lasting effects! It should tear easily when you fold it down! Continue with the same steps for the rest of your nails!

Tip: Use a cuticle scissors to cut off excess, and be sure to fold the sticker down to cover the tip of your nails to ensure a longer lasting nail design!

After completing, paint on a top coat immediately without having to wait! I used The Face Shop Top Coat as my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is almost dried up and I have to get it replaced soon!
And this is the finished look!

Newspaper Fun!

Hi everyone!!
So recently Newspaper nail art has been a popular nail art design seen everywhere, so I decided to give it a try using different methods. I will try using water, rubbing alcohol and cuticle oil. So since my nails are now occupied with the upcoming tutorial, I will be doing this nail design on my mum!
Let's get this nail tutorial started.

So as usual, after filing and cutting of cuticles, apply some cuticle oil on your nails and cuticle area. I used a cuticle oil I got from a pushcart in any regular shopping centre, or you can get yours at any Face shop store you see!
Tip: clean your nails with nail polish remover before applying base coat, it will be way easier to apply!

Start by applying a base coat to protect your natural nails. I am using the Sally Hansen's continuous treatment (Growth Croissance) as my base coat as well as help my nails grow faster. It's like killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

Next, I painted a solid white colour as a the base colour, so that it will build a contrast with the usual black printed newspaper designs and make it more outstanding! I am using the PUPA Art Base Glossy nail polish in the code M087 that I got from WATSONS paired together with a Pink Shatter Polish!

So first, I tried using water because water can be found easily at home! So I kept this newspaper comic strip and found it super cute and different from the normal newspaper designs that others do! Cut the designs that you desire from the newspaper and make sure it fits your nail size! I dipped the newspaper into water and immediately place it on my nails just like that!

Press the newspaper down at all corners and hold it there for a minute, and peel a little from the sides to see if the image is printed down, if yes you can peel the newspaper right off and continue on with other nails, or hold it down harder for a little longer before checking again!
Tip: If the newspaper dries up and it's hard to remove, try applying more water on your nails!
And this is what you will get!

Method 2: Rubbing alcohol!

It's basically the same method, just that I'm using rubbing alcohol now instead of water, and I got this rubbing alcohol from the regular drugstore WATSONS! Dip the newspaper design you want into rubbing alcohol and apply on your nail surface. However, rubbing alcohol dries up quickly, thus you SHOULD NOT leave it for more then 15 seconds or it will stick to your nails! Press it down firmly and check for the image on your nails frequently. Remove when the image appears.

Method 3: Cuticle oil!

Cuticle does not work in this design because it will not stick the newspaper onto the nail surface.

To end of this look, apply a top coat to make this nail design last longer and give off this beautiful glossy finish. I am using the Seche Vite dry fast top coat. I personally think that the rubbing alcohol gives off a more intense image as compared to using water. However reaction time plays a big role here to prevent the newspaper from sticking onto the nail Hope you enjoyed this nail art tutorial and do leave a comment below on your way of doing newspaper nail designs or any suggestions for nail designs!

Travel Series Part 2: What's in my brush roll?

Some of you may not know this, but I will be going away for a school trip at the end of this month. So, I have decided to blog about some travel tips. My first post is about my hand carry makeup/skincare bag which can be read here.

For the second part of this mini travel series that I have started, I am going to be blogging about travel brush roll.

I love how compact this brush roll is. It doesn't hurt that it is also in the prettiest shade of baby blue! It comes in a variety of shades so you can definitely find a shade to suit you. Tbh, my sister actually gifted it to me from her picks at her sponsor shop, theblogshop. She blogs about all things fashion here. So, go check her blog out and told her I send ya ;)

This is what the inside looks like. It has 4 slots with a zipper compartment at the sides. As you can see, I managed to fit a considerable amount of brushes in there.

In the zipper compartment, I slide a couple of cotton tips in there. I daresay it is not a waste of space after all!

I am bringing more shader brushes because I will not be bringing a brush cleanser there. I thought since there is more than enough space, why not squeeze a couple more extra brushes in there.

Travel Series Part 1: What's in my makeup/skincare bag?

If you guys didn't catch my last video (here), I mentioned in passing that i'll be going for a school trip to.....KOREA! I am extremely excited for that so I actually planned to film some videos for you guys prior to the trip. Thus far, I filmed about three but there have been some problems with youtube so I couldn't get it up on time. Clara tried to upload it up to youtube for three days but youtube kept rejecting the video. Since I will be flying off on Sunday, there isn't enough time for me to upload them anymore so, I have decided to just blog about it.

Woah, enough of this rambling but...

Before I get started, I just want to mention that I will be on an overnight(?) flight so this particular bag is going to be in my hand carry. If you guys are wondering, I will be on the plane for over six/seven hours, therefore I am not going to bother myself with makeup on the flight,

Tip #1: Make sure all your liquid/cream/gel/aerosol products are within the 100ml limit and
Tip #2: that they are stored in a ziplock bag, not exceeding a maximum capacity of l liter

My face makeup(base):
- Revlon ColourStay Foundation in 310
- MAC Strobe Cream
- MAC Select Moisturecover concealer in NW30 (For under eyes)
- MAC Studio Finish concealer in NC30 (For blemishes)

My face makeup:
- NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Tea Rose
- MAC Semi Precious Pearl MSF
- Canmake Shading Powder in 01

Tip #3: Try to bring cream products because you don't have to carry extra brushes along.

My eyeshadow:

My eye makeup:
- Shishedo eyelash curler
- Fairydrops mascara
- Etude House Oh M' Eyelash Mascara Topcoat
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Dollywink eyeliner

There you go, my essentials for my makeup/skincare on the plane. I know some of you may think that I am going overboard with the makeup, but what can I say, I am a makeup junkie. ;)

Hi everyone,

this is our very first nail art design for this new blog, and it's a darker electric blue colour with a softer baby blue colour as a design. So let's get this nail art tutorial started.

So after filing and cutting cuticles, I used the Sally Hansen's continuous treatment (Growth Croissance) as a base coat just because my nails are shorter now, and I want it to grow quickly, as well as act like a base coat to protect our nails from being damaged.

Next, I am using the Topshop's nail polish collection I bought, in the colour Nails in AWOL, as the base colour. It is a deep electric blue colour, and it you do not like it to be thick, you can just paint 1 coat of this deep blue and it'll look gorgeous. However, I like the colour to be more intense, thus I painted 2 coats!

So to make the nail art design of polka dots, I will be using a dotting tool I got from a nightmarket which cost about $2 and it has 2 different sizes! What a deal!

To make the polka dots, I chose a baby blue to compliment the intense electric blue colour instead of the typical white, so that it softens the look and make the nail design better.

I am using Etude's house baby blue colour in a matte finish. I chose a this polish because firstly it has a baby blue colour that compliments the look, and secondly, it has a matte finish so it will take a shorter time to dry up!

I placed the nail polish on a piece of paper, and used the dotting tool dot slowly on my nails. The size and colour intensity of the dots can be adjusted by using a light hand, or dotting the colour on twice.

To finish off the look, I used Seche Vite dry fast top coat because it shines amazingly and dries up so quickly I am amazed by it!

Tutorial: Smokes & Diamonds

After my previous tutorial on a flirty look, I decided to create a smokey eye for you guys. This look is very appropriate for a night out and is simple to recreate.

1. Apply Etude House's Aloha Bronze Skin Maker all over your face. This is to help tan your skin up especially if you are going to be doing a smokey eye because you do not want to look too washed out.

2. Then, go ahead and apply ZA Skin Beauty Liquid foundation.

3. Conceal your blemishes and under eye circles with ZA Concealer Perfection.

4. Prime your lids with NYX Eyeshadow Base in 03 to help prevent creasing.

Honestly, I dont know the name of this palette. I just know that is a Japanese brand and it can be found at Watsons under the Japanese cosmetics section. Hopefully, that will help if you guys want to get this.

5. Take the e/s marked 'B', a shimmery taupe color, and place it all over your lid with a flat shader brush to get the most colour payoff.

6. Blend the edges, using MAC's 217, to blend out any harsh lines.

7. Take the same flat shader brush with a little bit of the e/s marked 'B' and gently smudge the colour on your lower lash line.

8. Next, take the e/s marked 'C', which is a deep grey colour, on a small angled brush and place the colour at the outer corner of the lids. This will help to create definition to the eyes.

9. The importance of a 'smokey' eye is to blend the colour sufficiently so that it creates a soft gradient of colour. Also, you want to start building the colours from light to dark to help you achieve this look.

10. As with the first e/s, take the deep grey colour and place it on the lower lash line. Only with this, try to stop about halfway. This will help to open up the eyes more.

11. To soften the look, take the vanilla white eyeshadow, marked 'A', with a fluffy brush, and put it on your brow bone. Make sure to blend the edges as well.

12. This is optional but I really wanted to glam up my eyes, I decided to apply some of the glitter to the inner corners of my lower lashline. This will add a little bit of sparkle to the eyes!

13. Eyeliner is important in smokey looks as it will help to define the eyes. Here I used thefaceshop's Automatic Eyeliner Pencil in black on my water line.

14. With the same product, I lined my upper lash line and smudged it out for like a messy-smudgey look. Make sure it is a thin line though, you dont want to go overboard with the eyeliner!

15. Finish off the eyes by curling your lashes using Shiseido eyelash curlers and applying Maybeline's One by One mascara on your lashes.

16. Groom your eyebrows into place with Etude House's Oh M' Eyelash Topcoat.

17. Contour your cheeks with the bronzer in Sephora's Blush me Twice palette. I would suggest a matte bronzer because you dont want to overkill with the shimmer in your eyes.

18. For blush, dab a little of the blusher from the same palette and lightly brush it on your cheeks for a healthy glow.

19. Top of your lips with Lieole Blooming Gloss in 04 Cream Orange. You can also do a nude lip or if you are bold enough, go for a hot red!

This video is special as Clara made a debut after persuading her for so long to appear in a video. We raided Etude House once again and Clara's favourite things, nail polishes.

Seriously though, youtube likes to take the weirdest snapshot of me as the still photo thing. I dont know what they're called but you guys know..

Tutorial: Pop of Pink

You know how when your world shuts down to black and white and you just want to paint it with something colourful?

That was what I had in mind when I created this look. It is basically your neutral, everyday look with a 'Pop of Pink'.

1. I applied the Etude House Bronze Skin Maker #2 all over my skin, to give it a healthy glow.

2. Then, I went on to conceal any blemishes and discolouration with MAC's Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC30.

3. To begin with, I use my finger to apply Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit all over my lid, making sure to blend it in the crease. This will act as a base for the rest of the eye shadows.

4. On a flat shader brush, here I am using Make Up Show's 8E 07, grab Midnight Rodeo and gently pat it all over your lid. To be exact, pat it wherever you had applied your base colour.

You will end up with pretty shimmery lids that reflects beautifully when it catches the light!

5. To give the eyes more dimension, take M.I.A and place it at the outer corners of your lid so it forms some sort of a 'V' shape.

The shadows looks a bit undone here, so let us move on to the next step.

6. Take your blending brush, this is MAC's 217 blending brush, and blend the outer corners. This is to prevent any harsh edges around that area and will soften the look as well.

From this picture, you can tell that the eye shadows look like a gradient of colours.

7. To play the look up just a little, I took Junkshow on a small Maybeline brush, the one that comes with their gel liner, and smudge in on my lower lash line. Remember, do not over do the pinkish-purplish colour because you do not want to accentuate your eyebags.

8. Line your eyes with your favourite eyeliner, this is the Dollywink eyeliner. Create a little wing at the end to spice up the look a bit as pink is such a girly colour and you kind of want that bit of edginess to the look.

9. For this step, I lined my eyes with Benefit's Eye Bright to help open up my eyes. Don't fret if you don't have this pencil, using a white eyeliner will give off the same effect.

10. The last step for the eyes is to, of course, curl your lashes and apply your favourite mascara. Here, I am using Shiseido's eyelash curler and Maybeline's One by One Volume Express Mascara.

11. As I was planning to use a bright pink lip colour, I opted for this NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Tea Rose for that natural flush of colour. I just took it on the tips of my fingers and blend it on my cheeks.

12. To tie in with the pink you have on your eyes, I chose this NYX lipstick in Louisiana which is a very hot pink colour, for a fun look.

13. To finish off the look, I applied Elizabeth Arden's High Shine Lipgloss in 19 Pink Pout.

August 2011 Favourites

August was a testing month for me, both figuratively and literally. Not only was it testing my patience (and pangs of hunger) during the fasting month, last month I also tested quite a few makeup products and fell absolutely in love with them.

Just a quick note, swatches of all the products will be at the bottom of the post. Perhaps another quick note, this post is very long.. I promise you this is the last, videos mentioned in the post will be linked at the bottom of the post as well.

If you guys find this first product familiar, you might have seen it in my first haul video. It is actually the Etude House's Sweet Shower Lips in Miss Tangerine. As you can see, it is packaged in a very sleek metallic orange tube that is both eye catching and convenient to lug around.

As the name of the colour might suggest, it is indeed a true tangerine, orange colour. Not only that, it is a very bright tangerine, orange colour. However, since it has a glossy finish, the lip colour is not too obnoxious.

If you are still uncomfortable about the bright orange colour, you can sheer the colour by applying a small amount on the middle of your lips. Then take your finger and blend the colour over your entire lips. This will provide the same colour but a lighter tone.

Im sure many of you shop at Topshop for their clothes and accessories, but have any of you ventured into their makeup line? If the answer is no, I would recommend this Topshop Powder Blusher in 'POP'.

The colour is a mixture of hot pink and orange, almost neon-like, with a matte finish. Most importantly, is that this blusher is very pigmented. With its high pigmentation and bright colour, I would suggest you to use a very light hand when applying this on the tops of your cheeks.

Whenever I decide to use this blusher, I make sure to play down the colours on the rest of my face. In other words, the colours on my eyes and lips would be more neutral so as to not overwhelm the colour of my blusher.

If you guys watch my second haul video, you would know that I am all about the 'dewy' and 'glowly' look that many kpop girls seem to adore. So when the MAC Semi Precious collection was launched, I was immediately taken to this MAC MSF in Semi Precious Pearl.

This MSF has two parts(?) to it. The outer ring is this very shimmery beige, white highlighting powder while the core, is this blend of plum, gold and white veinings.

The outer ring gives off this illuminating glow when swept on the tops of the cheekbones.

The core colour mixes to this very pretty plum, purplish colour that enhances the cheeks beutifully.

When mixed together, the colour is a soft pearly plum colour.

Honestly, I often use the Topshop blusher in Pop and the highlighter part of this MSF together and it looks really beautiful. So, you can actually mix and match and use this product individually or together.

Seriously, the packaging on the Fairydrops mascara tube begs to be in my August 2011 Favourites post. Just look at the pretty pinkish-purple colour with its teal blue and white detailing.

If you guys are thinking of how weird the wand on this mascara looks, remember that looks can be deceiving. It is actually very lengthening and voluminising. You just have to be careful when applying it though as it may clump. For me, I always do one coat no matter what so that factor does not really bother me.

It may need a little getting use to but with time, I sure love how this mascara makes my lashes look so thick and long.

Even my sister decided to get it for herself after trying mine out!

I hope you guys are still with me as I talk about my last August 2011 Favourite. The last product, but certainly not the least, is the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit.

My main concern for getting ready for school is to get ready fast. So with this product, I am able to fulfill my concern as I just use my fingers to apply it on my lids. The colour is also school appropriate with its brownish tones and gold flecks.

You can see that I barely used this product as you only need a tiny amount for your entire lid so I think this can actually last me very long. Provided, it does not dry up which I hope it wouldn't considering the hefty price tag!
